nebusiness awards 2008
Rules & Guidelines

The overall aim of the nebusiness awards are to recognise achievement, to encourage excellence and to celebrate business success. The Awards are designed to be inclusive rather than exclusive.

There are separate entry pages for each of the 11 Award categories.

Individual companies and organisations may offer only one entry per category and enter a maximum of 3 separate categories. Choices should be made with these restrictions before entry.

All entries must relate to activity during the calendar year 2008.

Where appropriate, applications are welcomed and encouraged from businesses of all sizes, educational establishments and other public bodies.

The Awards are open to all companies and organisations with a significant presence within the three Sub Regional areas. Applications though will also be considered from businesses based on the fringe of a Sub Regional area so long as a significant interest within the Sub Regional area can be demonstrated, eg customer base, workforce, etc.

Each Award has a separate judging panel with an appropriate Chairperson, nominated by the Award Sponsor. Every effort will be made to give feedback to entrants although no specific correspondence will be entered into. The decision of the judging panel for each Award and on all associated matters is final. The Journal and Evening Gazette, as organisers, do not get involved in the judging process.

All entries must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 9 January 2009. They can be submitted to The Journal and Evening Gazette online at www.northeastbusinessawards.co.uk. All supporting documentation should be posted to, Kirsty Tarn, Events Manager, Regional Events & Exhibitions, ncjMedia Ltd, Groat Market, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1ED.

For enquires telephone Kirsty Tarn on, 0191 201 6072 or email kirsty.tarn@ncjmedia.co.uk.

A shortlist of the 3 top entries for each category will be decided by w/c 2 February 2009. Shortlisted companies and organisations will be announced in The Journal and Evening Gazette week commencing w/c 16 February 2009.

The Awards will be presented at a gala dinner for each sub-regional area as follows:
  • Durham & Wearside – Thursday 12 March 2009. Venue tbc.
  • Tyneside & Northumberland – Thursday 19 March 2009 at the Newcastle Marriott Hotel, Gosforth Park
  • Tees Valley – Thursday 26 March 2009. Venue tbc.

  • The winning companies from each of the Sub Regional heats will go through to the Regional Final of the nebusiness awards. The Gala Dinner takes place on Thursday 30 April 2009. Venue tbc.

The nebusiness awards will be contested by the winning companies from The Tees Valley Business Awards, The Durham and Wearside Business Awards and The Tyneside & Northumberland Business Awards. The same entry form and judging criteria will be used for each of the 3 events and the winners of the Regional Final will be based on the original entries. A separate judging panel will determine the Regional winners for the North East.

Companies with a regional presence across the North East can enter an individual award category in any one of the 3 sub-regions. Regional companies should choose the sub-region most appropriate for the entry, e.g. where the Head Office is based. Regionally based companies can still enter up to 3 separate award categories in any of the 3 sub regions, i.e. a maximum of 9.

When posting supporting documentation, please submit 6 copies of everything.
