Rules & Guidelines

The overall aim of the North East Business Awards is to recognise achievement, to encourage excellence and to celebrate business success. The Awards are designed to be inclusive rather than exclusive.

The great news this year is that there is the possibility that your achievements could be recognised at a national level too. The Journal and Evening Gazette work closely with the North East Chamber of Commerce, and the winners of the North East Business Awards may be considered by the NECC for entry into their national awards.

There are separate entry pages for each of the 12 Award categories.

Individual companies and organisations may offer only one entry per category and enter a maximum of 3 separate categories. Choices should be made with these restrictions before entry.

All entries must relate to activity during the calendar year 2007.

Where appropriate, applications are welcomed and encouraged from businesses of all sizes, educational establishments and other public bodies.

The Awards are open to all companies and organisations with a significant presence within the three Sub Regional areas. Applications though will also be considered from businesses based on the fringe of a Sub Regional area so long as a significant interest within the Sub Regional area can be demonstrated, eg customer base, workforce, etc.

Each Award has a separate judging panel with an appropriate Chairperson, nominated by the Award Sponsor. Every effort will be made to give feedback to entrants although no specific correspondence will be entered into. The decision of the judging panel for each Award and on all associated matters is final. The Journal and Evening Gazette, as organisers, do not get involved in the judging process.

All entries must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 7th December 2007. They can be submitted to The Journal and Evening Gazette in 2 ways.
  1. Submit online at www.northeastbusinessawards.co.uk
  2. Post to, Claire Evans, Event Manager, Events Department, ncjMedia, Groat Market, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1ED.
